TOKYO — Six males have been arrested for allegedly stealing some 300 pairs of standard sneakers together with Nike’s Air Jordan 6 basketball sneakers, the Metropolitan Police Division introduced on Nov. 30.
The arrested are Yutaka Matsuo, 23, of unknown occupation, from Yokohama’s Minami Ward, and 5 20-year-old Chinese language nationals, amongst whom 4 have been 19 on the time of the incident, on suspicion of theft and trespassing.
The suspects allegedly broke the lock of a warehouse on the primary flooring of a constructing in Tokyo’s Itabashi Ward between round 3:40 a.m. and 4 a.m. on Feb. 13 and stole about 300 pairs of sneakers — price some 6.65 million yen (roughly $58,800). They’re believed to have loaded vehicles with the stolen gadgets and fled. Police haven’t clarified whether or not they have admitted to the allegations.
Based on the second division of the organized crime response, all stolen sneakers have been standard sneakers traded for tens of hundreds of yen (a number of hundred {dollars}), together with Nike’s “Air Jordan 6 Carmine,” “Air Jordan 1 Retro” and Adidas’ “Yeezy Increase 350 V2,” the latter of which have been developed collectively with well-known rapper Kanye West.
The warehouse was managed by a shoe gross sales firm within the capital, and about 1,000 pairs of recent sneakers have been saved on the website. The six males’s involvement emerged from eyewitness experiences and photographs of safety cameras round a condominium, amongst different proof.
